75th Anniversary of D-Day

As we are celebrating the 75th Anniversary of D-Day, what else could top off the weekend better than flypasts of a Second World War aircraft? The ‘Dakota’ from The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight will be roaring past on BOTH Saturday and Sunday (Operational and weather dependent). Currently painted to represent an aircraft used on D-Day this is something you will not want to miss out on!

During the weekend we will be recreating the mass parachute drops that occurred early on the morning of June 6th 1944 during Mission ‘Albany’ and ‘Boston’ in the first part of the D-Day landings. Utilising several of our members radio control aircraft, each will be releasing a number of miniature parachutists over the flying display field.

Also  exhibited will be RC planes from the WW2 period, with fighters and bombers from both Allied and Axis forces. These will also be taking part in our two-day flying programme, so look to the skies to see them in action!

If that is not enough, there is also a fantastic 40″ x 40″ diorama depicting the beach landings in the latter part of D-Day, full of brilliantly detailed tanks, landing craft, troops and transport vehicles.
