To mark the very special occasion of the clubs 60th Anniversary, we are once again holding one of our general modelling shows. Hosted for the very first time at Long Field Academy in Melton Mowbray. This will be our largest and most varied show yet, with plenty of various exhibits and experiences to take part in, covering the full range of scale modelling. This year’s flying displays will be the most wide-ranging yet, with a full two day programme of Radio-Controlled Model Aircraft demonstration flights and aerobatics. As usual there be will a huge range of various models taking to the skies from classics of all eras, to gliders. Come and see your favourite aircraft in action!

Come and try your hand at model flying with our introduction “RC Flying Experience”, fly an actual model aircraft with one of our experienced instructors in complete safety using our “buddy box” system. Book in early on each day, as there is limited availability!

There will also be the “BMFA Model Flight Simulator” for those nervous flyers fearing about any snapped wings or broken props!

This year we will have our largest selection of Slot Car (Scalextric) tracks yet, so come and have a race on at least 7 fully scenic circuits!

Have a blast around the desert with a 4×4 off roader on the Dakar Special Rally Stage, look out for those tricky triple crossovers on the ‘Brecon Rally Cross’, or escape Isla Nublar and avoid the hungry dinosaurs on ‘Jurassic Park’.

For those feeling a bit more adventurous, we will be running a “Slot Rally” competition with prizes available for the fastest time across all the tracks! Cars are provided for those without with trophies and great prizes up for grabs. See more details on its own page here: Pork Pie Slot Rally

We will have a second flying field on the Long Field Tennis Courts dedicated to helicopter, drone, quad copters and FPV (First Person View) racing. Learn about this exciting new sport which is taking the internet by storm and expect some thrilling airborne action.

Our largest display of fully scenic model railway displays featuring various scales and themes including;

Melton Model Railway Club, “Twygg”, a fictious ‘O’ Guage layout representing a local village branch line terminus on the Herefordshire/Welsh border.

Leicester Model Railway Group‘s “Cook End”.

Ivanhoe Model Railway Society‘s “Lydd on Sea”, a ‘OO’ Gauge recreation of an old station on from the Kent & East Sussex Light Railway.

Plus tracks from MDMC’s own members; ‘009’ Scale “Nigartley” and 00 “End of the Yard”.

Returning once again will be the fantastic display of static, mechanical and electric powered Meccano models, showing off what is possible with this classic construction toy.

While away the hours on the Meccano construction table- let your imagination run wild and see what you can build, with a with huge range of parts to experiment with!
