The Melton & District Model Club (MDMC) are now pleased to announce that we have now secured the use of a new boating facility for use by MDMC members who have an interest in RC boats.
Being a former carp lake, there are places around the lake where boats can be launched and retrieved from. There is also a covered area which can be used as a pit area and to stay dry when it rains. It is estimated that the car park will accommodate up to 6-8 cars.
We have been advised by an expert model boat racer that it is big enough for 6.5cc (.40cu in) size multi-racer boats. This is one of the few facilities in the area where nitro boats can be run. Of course, noise limits will have to be observed of no more than 82dBA at 7 metres (BMFA standard)
The water is approximately 55 x 40 metres with a “usable” size of approximately 45 x 35 metres.
For existing MDMC members this will cost an extra £30 per calendar year.
For new “boat” members the cost will be £60 per calendar year which includes MDMC club fees, BMFA membership and 3rd party liability insurance.
For day visitors accompanied by an MDMC member this will be £5 per day. Proof of 3rd party liability insurance will be required.
Contact the club here for further information.
The facility is located at Kirby Bellars just off the A607 Leicester Road. The entrance to the site is sign posted as “3 Main Road” and is on the right hand side as you drive through Kirby Bellars, heading towards Melton Mowbray.
